Adventure in the Shoalhaven

The spectacular Shoalhaven landscape offers boundless opportunities for activities as energetic or as laid back as you like. Keen cyclists can rent bikes for either road or MTB rides through fire trails and forest tracks. There are numerous popular walking trails, both coastal and bush, to suit any level of fitness, or see the countryside from the back of a horse. Water lovers will be spoiled for choice - learn to surf or stand up paddle, rent a kayak or canoe on one of our tranquil waterways. Learn to dive in the crystal waters of Jervis Bay or thrill to an encounter with dolphins or whales on a cruise.

Easy 16km road circuit. Sealed road through gentle countryside to Seven Mile Beach National Park, picnic area and surf.

Easy 30km circuit. Following the Shoalhaven River through farmland, small settlements and $2 each-way ferry to the Nature Reserve of Comerong Island - an excellent introductory ride.

Easy 13km road circuit. A leisurely couple of hours to access beautiful beaches facing north across Jervis Bay, to swim or just relax.

Medium 15km road circuit. A taste of urban riding around Milton, Ulladulla and Mollymook - accessible, with cycleways in the busier parts of town.

Currambene Forest Bike Trails
Shoalhaven Bicycle User Group has produced a map showing several trails that start at the southern end of Worrigee Road, 9.8km from Nowra Visitors Centre, and at Callala Bay Road, north of the village.
Trails are gravel roads, fire trails and bush tracks. Most trails are impassable after heavy rain, due to sticky red clay and boggy areas.

Bomaderry Creek
Easy 4km walk takes around 1hr 30min, some climbing. Starts at parking area in Narang Road, Bomaderry. The route of the track follows Bomaderry Creek which has carved a course through sandstone, forming impressive cliffs, rock walls, overhangs and caves.

Bens Walk
5.5km, 2 hr. Easy with some climbing. meanders along the banks of the Shoalhaven River through native bushland. Park at back of Nowra Showground, Junction Street, Nowra

Wreck Walk
A 2.5km return walk, which takes a leisurely one hour on an easy gradient and takes in the site of the wreck of the SS Merimbula.

Coomies Walk
This includes the Wreck Walk and is a 9km, hillier walk and takes about three hours. A feature of this walk is the panoramic view from the Trig Station.
Both walks start at Abrahams Bosom Reserve and feature coastal seascape scenery of beaches, estuaries, ocean, rock formations, massive sandstone cliffs and headlands.

Jervis Bay National Park
Two tracks from Greenfields Beach provide a 1-2 hour walk along the coast and into the forest. Access from Greenfields Beach Reserve or carpark at Seamans (Hyams) Beach. Coastal scenery, bushland.

Pigeon House Didthul, Morton National Park
4.5km return, 3hr 30min. Hard with 490m climb. From Milton travel west on Croobyar Road, which becomes Woodstock Road, right onto the dirt Clyde Ridge Road, right onto Yadboro Road, then right at a signed junction to reach the parking bay. Mountain and coastal views. (Note: because the access to Pigeon House Mountain/Didthul is by unsealed road, visitors are advised to check with the Visitor Centre on the road's condition.)
